My personal opinion is that too much focus on the food creates further obsession and detracts from the intuitive eating, making you more stressed and anxious about the food, eating and trying to determine your hunger scale.
the whole point of intuitive eating is to reconnect to your internal and natural way of eating, which means being a normal eater and not being obsessed and focused on the food.
But most importantly you need to do what works for you - that is what being intuitive is all about!
