Siem Reap has changed a great deal, especially if you have not been back within the last 5 years. I was there in 2007 as a back packer (for about a month). Its one of those places you should visit if you are in Cambodia. No need to exchange your U.S. Dollar. ATMs are in the City not too far from Ankor Wat. There were abundance of South Korean tourists in the area. Lots of hotels and restaurants and of course night life can be buck wild. The tourist fee was 20 (USD) as of June 2007.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing this.. Always wanted to go there. Is everything fairly cheap there? How were you recieved as a foreigner? Was language a problem for you?
