For Final Fantasy Contest 2009
-Story-
It all started with Aerith hanging alone in her church, as usual. Reno wasn't expecting her to be there and was surprised to see her. She greeted him with a sad face as he stared at her. She stared back, not a word being said. They didn't need foolish words. However, Reno couldn't understand why he didn't want this. He didn't want her here. Why wouldn't he want her here? She had gone...she was back now, but why...? Why was she...here...and why was he mad about it?...He had forgotten, yet again.

They hang out together, like they usually did. People stared as they walked, they didn't care. They were at the train terminal that day. Aerith had fallen asleep on Reno's shoulder and he was carrying her home when he noticed her almost translucid skin. So pretty...yet so...strange. Wasn't her skin usually pink?

The day after, he was given a mission by Shin-RA. Their had been a massive planecrash and he had to look for one of the missing passenger. He had to look for...Aerith?! At the name, he rushed back to the church, where she was dancing her heart out. When she saw him, she rushed to him and hugged him, but noticed a short moment after, the haunted look his face bore. He told her of the crash, of her being missing and she whispered: Maybe it means nothing...
But Reno wouldn't listen. Maybe it means nothing, he said. But i'm afraid to lose you...
Aerith smiled at him and then tried to find her old memories as Reno watched her with sad blue eyes. When she seemed back to normal, he rushed to her side and hugged her but she pushed him away...and disappeared. Reno went back to his mission and he found her near a river a few miles away from the crash site. Her fingers were intertwined as if she had been praying before she died, requesting something...Wanting...what? Reno burried her in the water and returned to Midgar to find that girl that looked so much like Aerith, but everyone knew she was dead and thought him mad. Everyone knew Aerith was dead yet the streets were still as lively. Even the children didn't seem to care.

Reno returned to the church where he saw her. He didn't want to talk...He just wanted to see here...Aerith walked slowly towards him and he asked her to remain silent. But she shook her head softly.
Anyway, she said. I'll see you around.
And she walked past him and behind the unusually bright doors. She didn't look back, not once, kept on walking away, walking out of his life, not stopping even while the bright light engulfed her and Reno stared helplessly as his lover's ghost disappeared having finally found peace...
