  • I can't tell from this video, but is his palm facing upward right after he released his MF? I might be wrong about this, but I believe that Dr. Marshall wants pitchers' palms facing upward after release.

  • Yes you are correct, Marshall wants voluntary drive and finish pronation to where the hand flips completely over with the palm up. Tyler gets half way but is still sticking his hand straight to the target and attaining arm healthy pronation.

This 30 FPS vid. Only catches 2 frames from mid drive to long after finish, not good enough for pitching analysis. 240 fps is minimum for meaningful mechanical analysis. In Tylers last 4 games this Spring he was throwing this pitch 98 MPH.

  • He didn't use pendulum swing arm action, but he did raise his pitching hand to the driveline height when his glove foot landed.

If he did use Dr. Marshall's training methods, will Mr. Matzek transfer his pitching mechanic to full Marshall type?

e.g. : remove leg lift, reduce trunk bend forward, push with his glove foot...etc.

    Thanks!

  • Tyler has the freedom to add or subtract as many of these tenets that he wishes to attain

He has the knowledge to voluntarily perform inside of vertical from a straighter and taller position than he currently attains. Marshall has critiqued him.

The current aesthetic acceptance level dictates his direction

  • @mattvorwald I agree, it looked as thought he ball @ seperation was palm down and not palm up. The elbow doesent lead much if at all and the pronation was also close to non existent. with the finish at the hip and no crow hop, I'd say it bears little resemblance to the actual Maxline FB. In my opinion, it is just another fastball with really good velocity. Good for him! bad for hitters

  • By the way he was throwing this pitch 98 MPH last night against O'Lu.

  • Oh yes, this is a fully pronated "Maxline fastball" that will prevent many elbow problems. Do not confuse this Marshall tenet with all the rest.

  • It's not a "Maxline Fastball". It's not Marshall mechanics. It's just a fastball. But at least it's a good one.
