Long ago, before Darren McGavin was Kolchak and Burt Reynolds was in Smokey and the Bandit..there was a really underated and little known show from 1959 called: Riverboat. It starred McGavin as Capt. Grey Holden of the Enterprise (not the Starship) a paddleboat which hauled cargo up and down the Mississippi River during the mid 1800's. A young Reynolds played his co-pilot during the first season. A truly wonderful show...and yet it only ran for two seasons. Please rate and comment.

  • This should have been a longer series. The boat depicted on one of the original promotional posters was the Rebecca Everingham, a classic sternwheeler. The series theme music had an epic Western flavor. Dandy set of images. Thanks kindly!

  • This is probably the first tv series I remember as a kid, we used to watch it because my older sister loved Burt Reynolds.Has anyone got the theme tune for Riverboat.
