where do you buy the copper wheels? I have seen diamond wheels but are so expensive! where is a good place to buy the wheels?

Please, for those who understand and appreciate your talents and skill, please share more. I truly want to learn and be able to create this work now that I have retired from the Military (Although I still have a full-time job) - I have been a wood carver, artist and cartoonist for years, and visualize in 3D very well; so I know I could do the work if I just knew more of the specific techniques.

You have a deft hand and very skillful touch that only comes with years of experience, your work is beautiful and inspiring to behold. This is indeed a dying artform, so I truly hope you upload more videos, particularly of basic techniques, more on wheel prep and creation, and explain more about the concepts of intaglio carving and how your eyes and mind need to adjust to working in reverse. It is interesting to see how CW engravers work opposite of stone wheel engravers on the wheel.

You have a wonderful antique lathe to work with, you are very lucky. Hand I been able to find a lathe like that I would have been engraving long ago. But, they tend to be coveted by families and handed down through generations, and I have yet to be able to afford a modern Spatzier lathe - not a cheap hobby by any means.

The one I am using here is built to my own spec.Try the Guild of glass engravers,sometimes their members sell them.Kurt Merker in Germany sell some excellent ones but in any case they are not usually cheap and learning copper-wheel can be quite frustrating. Join the guild cus sometimes their member give instructions and their journal is an excellent source of imfomation.

They are made by cutting them from copper sheet, cheaper from a scrap yard, and turning on the spindle. send me an e-mail with an address and I,ll send you a instructional VCD.
