The lyrics (Dokken, Lynch) are posted below:

Sit there thinkin'
In your room
You feel the pressure
You're goin' crazy too
The walls around you
Closin' in
You need a change

Claustrophobic
Feelin' scared
You need somebody
But no one seems to care
A one way ticket
A change of pace
You've had enough
Can't take no more

(Chorus 1)
Breaking the chains around you
Nobody else can bind you
Take a good look around you
Now you're breaking the chains

Got this letter
Came today
From my baby
Who left me yesterday
Said she loves
She'll come back
She wants to try

I won't let her
She'll be upset
I know it's better
Than somethin' I'll regret
She's been dishonest
And insincere
I lost my mind
Twenty times a year

(Chorus 2)
Breaking the chains around me
Nobody else can bind me
Take a good look around me
Now I'm breaking the chains

(Solo)

Woke up today
I'm alone
I look around
But baby you were gone
But I don't mind
And I don't worry
I will survive

I'm alone
Now that you're gone
Don't need nobody
To hold or tie me down
I broke the chains
So let me be
I've gotta be free

(Repeat Chorus 2)
(Repeat Chorus 2)

  • Some people just don't understand a quality music..Dokken rules!!!

  • @glui2001 Don't forget that this was targeted towards a TEEN audience back then. Heavy metal was strictly for young people, not like these days where even 50 year olds listen to it. Todays times don't make much sense.

All the idiots commenting here on how the video is "cheesy", think about what I just wrote.

  • @DreamWarrior87 true but it was always about business plus it was the changing of the times people actually had enough of the 1980's metal/rock and wanted something different so the alternative rock/grunge scene happen as for rap,etc I really enjoyed old school rap and hip hop also Anthrax and Aerosmith did a duet with Public Enemy and Run-DMC respectively

  • @MrGrunge1991 Although Dokken is great and one of the first bands that got me into metal, don't think that this is everything that metal/rock was in the 80s. Lots of very interesting stuff outside of the US in those times was happening as well.

  • @MrGrunge1991 Yes, I lived in the 90s so I know how things were. grunge back then was generally ignored, everyone was either into rap crap, techno rap called "eurodance", pop and electro music. If grunge was that good for people, they wouldn't have switched from 80s metal to rap or electro pop. It actually made the public loose interest in rock and go towards rap.

If you would be familiar with other lesser known 80s metal bands, you wouldn't say 90s rock is great, trust me.

  • I love playing guitar cover this is my favorite to sing and play guitar well besides heaven sent by dokken as well

  • @DreamWarrior87 I respect your opinion but your wrong about the 90's sucked it was actually a good decade excluding boy bands, etc but the rock/metal is good. I understand that you like the 1980's metal/rock scene which it is your preference but I still think the 90's is a good decade but now the 2000-2012 era is bullshit so I can give you credit of saying that this decade sucked

  • 0:06 I really like this finger!

  • I love dokken

  • Lynch looks like a badass
