(c)1995 NFL/NBC Universal

The 1995 NFL on NBC pregame show for Week 5 of the 1995 season (repeat of sorts, in that unlike previous uploads; this includes commercials and is the ENTIRE pregame show). The big games for Week 5 were what was dubbed Shula Bowl II (Don's Dolphins; who at 4-0 were the lone undefeated team left in the AFC coming in; vs. Dave's Bengals). The other major game NBC was promoting was the late game between the defending AFC champion San Diego Chargers vs. the slumping Pittsburgh Steelers in a rematch of the previous season's AFC title matchup.

Hosting are Greg Gumbel, Mike Ditka and Joe Gibbs (no Montana this time) with Ahmad Rashad joining later.

The first story is a report on the Dolphins by Bob Trumpy and Tom Hammond; followed by a piece on the "human interest"/father-son angle with both Don and Dave being interviewed. This is followed by Ahmad introducing a piece on the Patriots/Falcons game where Boston Globe sportswriter/New England Patriots game sideline reporter Will McDonough along with Marv Albert and Cris Collinsworth discuss the main story of that game (Scott Zolak replacing injured Drew Bledsoe; who still had an outside shot at playing), followed by a tease with an interview with Pittsburgh's Bill Cowher.

Commercials are for: GTE (man rushing back and forth to store to buy some snacks for his pregnant wife); a local Lennox Heating and Air Conditioning spot, Northwestern Mutual Life (the Quiet Company) and Old Spice.

  • If Joe Montana was the main draw on the pregame show in the 1995 season, why didn't he appear more?

  • @FutureNewsAnchor I wish I knew.

  • @thedude19766 Rich Kotite would like a few words with you.

  • @jdog34505 actully the worst coach of alll time is Marty Mourningwig!

  • @DBR96A Amen brother

  • Football was so much more simple in the '90s, and I like the production better back then too. Maybe I'm just being nostalgic.

  • @lordvoldemort578 So do I. No news, no politics, none of that crap. I put up with it the other five days of the week, and most of it is depressing. If football is the new opiate of the masses, then lemme have two days out of seven to dope up.

  • I watch football to get away from the world.

  • LMAO@Shulabowl...Epic Fail....

  • The pregame song that NBC had from 1973-81 is the best ever, but this one isn't bad.
