Selena homenaje: Siempre Hace Frio - *K.Rossi*

Mariachi is really not my style - and growing up I was not a fan of this song - but when I saw the music video with JLo's silouette walking "as" Selena while the REAL Selena is shown in motion clips of concert footage "inside" the shadowy figure of herself (done by JLo) as she hauntingly walks somberly along an unknown path on what appears to be an autumn day. I was just falling in love with Selena when she died. Kids always called me a "sheep" and would go "baaaaahhhhhhh bbbaaaahhhhhhh" when I sang because I have a very notable vibrato. Selena is the only singer to embrace her nature enhanced vibrato (coaches teach us to keep vibrato "neutral"). She also was the first latinoamericana to make a name for herself - when the 90's was a very discriminatory time for latin americans. My mother is from Argentina, my dad is Polish - and as a child I watched the other Spanish speaking kids (I live in NY where apx 50% of hispanics are Mexican, 20% Puerto Rican, 20% Dominican, and 10% allots for the 20+ other Spanish speaking countries. Though my hair was black and I had big lips, my fairer skin and blue eyes allowed me to "pass" as a culture-free, fast-food-only, english-is-the-ONLY-language and America-is-the-only-country *white girl*. Selena allowed me to embrace my heritage as south american - and to not be shy in connecting with other latinoamericanos. This song I'm singing as tears actually drip down my cheeks. I want to do Selena proud.

@alratoz WOW sos la 1a persona de las miles que me siguen y joder - aun en el mundo real todos tipicamente de repente deciden se que tuviese que ser espanola o que puedo hacer bien un accento falso como truco pero naci en queens, NYC - mi madre de cordoba, argentina y soy de una casa obviamente hispanohablante pero con los prejuicios que insisten que pa' ser de herencia hispanohablante vos TENES que tener piel oscuro - ojos casi negros, y mas o menos exactamente el opuesto de como me veo jaja
