Hours after a series of quakes and subsequent tsunami hit Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga and Indonesia, people from Orange County, and all over, began stepping up to help.
For some, relief efforts are truly personal. Garden Groves Samoan Assembly of God church is preparing to fundraise while praying for the safe return of a team of their congregants who were on a mission team in Samoa when the disaster hit.
And, the recent Blessing of the Waves held special meaning for Anaheims St. Justin Martyrs choir as they sang and prayed for friends and family in Tonga who have been affected by the earthquakes.
The Diocese of Orange Catholic Relief services has set-up an online donation page and
Several churches in the OC, like this one in nearby Carson, are collecting food and supplies.
The Orange County American Red Cross is sending supplies and volunteers, like Claire Wilson of Fountain Valley to join the greater Red Cross team.
Many people have stepped up already, but much more help is needed. OCNewsChannel.com has a list of ways to participate.
