One doesn't seek shorts on Showtime much, but you can't miss a wonderful one from 2002 called "American Mod" beautifully directed by Kolton Lee. Visually stunning and so articulate at expressing the inarticulate: why nightclubbing was exciting when you're young.

  • i still need this video!

or is there a dvd already?

  • It's a 20 minute short so I don't think a DVD release exists yet.

  • The video features music by the headquarters, one of the best revival bands from the actual ny scene

  • Thanks-I think the song is great!

  • anyone knows here to find this film?

Because all the original 60s British mods listened almost entirely to American music, wore US Army parkas, American Levi's, and American Ivy League styles? Mod would never have even happened without American pop culture!

Seems to me that maybe YOU are the one who doesn't get it.

  • American MODs? Now thats just stupid

  • i used to be a punk but now im, a mod. punk became soo commercialized and trendy that the clean cut mod look is now ironically rebellious.

  • I'd have said they were more new 'urban casuals' rather than the term that Brits know 'MOD' as being. Alkthough having said that, the style and grooming is spot on. The very nature of 'Mod-ernism', is that it is continuous, evolves and gains its own individual nuances and refinements. Put them all onb Vespa scooters with tons of mirrors, and I might just warm to them a little more.

  • Mod my arse

  • I remember playing drums in this club scene. They threw glitter on my drums—I had to take them apart to get it all out. None of these guys were mods. For that matter, neither was I, but I can say I was more mod than anyone associated with this movie.

  • 2.00 and 2.04. Who allowed entry to a tramp. Door policy's shocking.

  • SCENE? If your "into it" ... If you "know" and feel it-then no scene is required. Sure it may be a bit of a struggle to find the correct "gear"- But it has always been around, it just "re-surfaces" onto the radar of culture now and again. LA or London or New York... would foster a more obvious "movement" than a place like Oklahoma. I'm not sure it is something to do, as much as it is a "way to be", a lifestyle.
