Oscar Grant knees BART officer Tony Pirone in the groin, slow motion

Two prominent Bay Area law professors claimed on prime time television that when BART officer Tony Pirone slammed Oscar Grant to the ground with his forearm (about a minute and a half before Grant was shot by another BART officer, Johannes Mehserle), it was a "vicious" "unprovoked" "criminal assault." Pirone's lawyer told reporters that, on the contrary, frame by frame analysis of the video shows that it was Grant who perpetrated a vicious criminal assault, kneeing officer Pirone several times in the groin when Pirone interrupted Grant's assault on a female officer. The slow motion video proves that the law professors are wrong and Pirone's lawyer is right. Take a look at these knees to the groin.

if you look at it real close, it looks like officer Pirone assaulted oscar with his right arm. it seems like oscar knees moving up and down is a natural movement after getting assaulted by Pirone. The details in this video are invalid, not enough evidence. At 2:20 how can you see the female officer's finger? sorry bud but i think theres something wrong with you, you might have problem.

You can not tell if the knee connected? So? Regardless of whether he connecfted, he clearly attempted to. The attempt is felony battery upon a police officer. It does not matter AT ALL if he connected, he assaulted a Pirone and violently grabbed Dominici. What does this have to do with anything? State of mind of those on the scene.

People only want their prejudiced opinions verified, and anything else (no matter how thoroughly researched and completely verifiable it may be) is a threat to them personally. Grant should not have been shot, and I feel for his family. But the fact is when you force a cop to react to you, you put yourself in a dangerous position. We can argue semantics all night about whether it "should" be that way, it IS that way.
