  • Wow, This is a New Dimension of Composer-Performer Communication!

-What is the percussive noise that sounds with some of the cords?

  • @ChicorelliC I presume that all of the sounds are made by the piano in some way.

  • This is great. Every now and then I pull out "12 pages" and set it on my piano and just look at it for several minuets. Someday I'll play it.

  • @JesSeales Just you. haha I kid, maybe because you haven't studied this kind of music yourself you don't understand it, but being a musician and composer, I find this stuff amazing and hope to be as creative in my own career.

  • @aliceisatreehugger Sure am Alice!!But who a, I?!?! MUAHAHAHAHAHA Sorry, beating the shit out of my guitar over this thing has driven me a bit mad...

  • @dainbramadge for Godfrey's 1st year class in UCC?? :p me too. D:

  • I have to come up with an interpretation of this followed by a 1500 word essay on said interpretation for my Performance studies Class in College... Fun! :/ its due Jan 3rd too....

  • we played December 1952 in music class yesterday.

First I was like "Oh my god, what do you want me to do? Are you serious?"

Our result was quite good, to my mind

I linked every spot with 2 others, so i got a line

Then i grabbed a guitar and played it right along this line. When the square or line or spot ,(whatever) was on the left hand side of my sheet, I put my hand left at the guitar neck. If it was long, i held it long, and the other way round! Havnt thought, that this would be so much fun!

  • Who's the interpreter here please? Greetings, thanks for great music from the xx century!

  • Try to predict what happens next, like how loud or soft the next sound will be and when it comes. It's difficult if you haven't heard this before. This piece is pretty unpredictable.

  • @psychopathtoine the "right" way to play it is to respect the score and take it seriously, working out some way of interpreting the information that Brown supplies and performing it with the same integrity that you would perform a work by, say, Beethoven. ... the "wrong" way to play it is to think of it as a joke and do just anything you want.
