  • Decriminalizing cannabis is flawed since it does not address the issue of supply. Complete legalization is the best exit strategy for this idiotic war on drugs.

  • He's one of the few men in government who's actually deserving of the title "Honorable..."

And as a matter of fact, he's had a great deal of good ideas, and he's done many worthwhile and noble things, if people cared to take notice and think.

  • Sugar was my first addiction i was 1 year old. So there is your damn gate way!

  • The only good idea Conyers ever has had. The best way to raise the price and create a black market for a commodity is to criminilize its use. States should sell it, regulate it and tax it, just like alcohol. The price of marijuana will go down, the profit motive for illegal sales will disappear, costs for imprisioning and prosecuting will also disappear. Its a "no brainer"

  • Drug use/abuse needs to be treated medically by DOCTORS, it should have NEVER have been put into the jurisdiction of law enforcement, except in cases of impaired operation of a moving vehicle, or where an adult allows drug use by a minor. The government will never make pot legal since it is making more money by being illegal. Think of all the court fees and fines that are realized from it. If it was legal, the poor police would actually have to spend their time catching REAL criminals.

  • There will always be idiots who trot out the same old nonsense about it being a "gateway drug" even though studies have disproved that theory for decades. But if more public figures like Conyers continue to come out speaking the truth about pot, then hopefully the number of ignorant hold-outs will dwindle and more laws can finally get thrown in the trash. Way to go, Congressman.

  • marijuana will save our planet, if we let it.

  • He must've been smoking to wear that blazer

  • i agree.

In fact, we need it for industrial uses. i could care less about weed as i do not smoke it, but it has uses and our economy needs it.

  • Well, this is great that he would like to decriminalize cannabis, but unless it is made completely legal, drug cartels will still be making a fortune, and the violence will continue. If the street is where people have to buy marijuana, there will be no way to regulate it. ie. no proof of age is needed when buying from a dealer. Dealers also carry other substances - substances that may not be safe like marijuana. Legalize and save lives.
