Globe vs Smart 3G comparison test: Malate, Manila

A comparison test of the 3G services of the two largest Philippine telcos.

My factory unlocked iPhone 4S on Globe on the left, my wife's Smart-issued iPhone 4S on the right.

Test was done at my home in Malate at around 9am. Before the test, I toggled Airplane mode to ensure a fresh and level connection. I used Speedtest and pointed them both to the same Hong Kong server. I ran the test 5 times. Globe wins in terms of DL speed, while Smart has the upper hand in the UL department.

I'll be doing this test in different areas of Metro Manila at different times of the day throughout the week.
