This is Herbie he is a two year old Giant Schnoodle (Giant Schnauzer crossed with a Royal Standard Poodle). Herbie was bred, born, and raised by my family. My mother allowed us to keep two puppies from our first litter. I instantly noticed Herbie's lanky body type and willing personality and he was mine. Of course no one wanted him anyway but I thought I was very lucky because I knew this dog had hidden potential. At the age of about one year old I began training Herbie. He excelled amazingly and went on to jump four feet two inches. Then, I noticed how he bonded with his owners so I began to try some courses. First on a leash then off. It wasn't super great as was his jumping but it was very good for a novice dog. So here you go this is Herbie's first large course so it didn't go so well.

1. Yes, I know he jumps on rocks. Those were put there that day because we were removing them from another section of the yard. As you can see the two jumps over the rocks are, purposely low.
2. Herbie and I are both absolute beginners. I honestly don't know what I am doing and so Herbie and I have learned together. Any tips are welcome, but please no "U SUCK. I HATE U" type thing.
3. If you have any recommendations for agility trainers in Louisiana please give me there website and/or contacts.
4. Yes, the last jump is very high. That is the first and last time Herbie will ever be made to do it. He was fine after. No harm done.
5. I know my backyard is messy I don't need to be notified of that, especially rudely, but at the time this video was shot when the backyard was under construction.
6. Please tell me whether or not Herbie does have true potential or is just any other dog that can be taught to do agility, but please don't say "UR DOG SUCKS!! MY DOG IS BETTER!!" because you know that if I said that to you about your dog you wouldn't like it either.

  • For heaven's sake, please take the leash off and don't have him jump so high, and not on hard surfaces, or you will ruin your dog's health...

    Like AllAmericanAgility said.

  • don't jump him so high like that on such a hard surface like that deck. that is reallly tough on his joints, not a good idea. but otherwise he looks ok, just no leash!

  • I agree with everyone else, you can have him jump that high though on softer surfaces.....

  • honey, i wouldn't recomend jumping that high. i agree your dog has the potential definetaly, but don't jump so high. :)

  • every dog has potential, but he would only need to jump 20" to 26" depending on what club ur in. i would try dock jumping with him, because poodles love water

  • OMG!!! I love your dog!! Go for it! I love how fast you can go with him!!

Just PLEASE take the leash off...

  • however like everyone says that brick wall is a REALLY high jump for your dog. do the right thing for your dog and take care of his body as you play.

  • He seems like he's a good dog, but i would really suggest taking some professional training for agility. It is great fun, but slightly expensive, depending on where you live. You seem to have put a lot of work into training him so far, so really the best advice I can give is find the best teacher you can and have a lot of fun with your dog!

  • Every dog has potention to do Agility. But, like evertone did say, the jump as way too high. Not very good for his joints either! Especially for such a large dog!

  • Agility requires more then jumping, there is weave poles and A frames and pause tables and tunnels and many other obstacles, and you don't have a leash on when preforming.

  • I hope you didn't PURPOSELY breed the Giant Schnauzer and the Standard Poodle together. 'There are already enough mixed breed dogs at the homeless shelters and on the streets who die every day. If you are going to breed a dog, be responsible and do it to better a breed. If the breeding was an accident, please spay or neuter your pets to make sure it doesn't happen again. The homeless animals will truly appreciate it. Thanks :)

  • that jump was way to high
