In her big-screen adaptation of Shakespeare's mystical thriller "The Tempest," Academy Award-nominated Julie Taymor ("Across the Universe," "Frida," "Titus") brings an original dynamic to the story by changing the gender of the sorcerer Prospero into the sorceress Prospera, portrayed by Oscar winner Helen Mirren ("The Queen"). Prospera's journey spirals through vengeance to forgiveness as she reigns over a magical island, cares for her young daughter, Miranda, and unleashes her powers against shipwrecked enemies in this exciting, masterly mix of romance, tragicomedy and the supernatural.

"Prospero as a woman"...soooooo?? It's Shakespeare! And if people don't know what that means...it's open to interpretation! Plus, all this negativity about Russell Brand, I don't get. He's *supposed* to be a comedic character and Russell Brand is one of the most talented, improvisational comedians, ever.

If you don't like the story, well then don't watch the film. However if you're a fan of the play; be open to this visionary and experimental adaption of Shakepeare's classic work.

Shakespeare is full of cross-dressing and originally boys played all the women's parts, so why not in the spirit of the gender confused tradition have Prospero played by a woman?

it wouldnt be a very good trailer, dont mistake me, i like shakespear, but they dont want to make the film seem boring.

yes i love Ariel!!!! it could possibly be because im playing the role of Ariel in our school play this year and i understand him better but i still love Ariel and i really wanted to be him before i was casted as him!!! :D

I think that they should have more of the Shakespearean language in the trailer to show it's not just all special effects.
