This is my attempt to get Stevie Ray Vaughn's guitar sound with Amplitube.
Don't focus too much on the playing, it's more about the tone. I don't have a good quality camera here, so I decided to record the Amplitube screen. You can see the settings I'm using in the video.

I used the following gear:
- Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Rosewood (tuned to Eb with 11 gauge strings)
- Tascam US 122L (USB Audio Interface)
- Amplitube 3
- Amplitube Fender add-on
- Cubase 5 (for recording the sound)
- Camtasia Studio 7 (for recording the video)

I used just the Fender Vibroverb amp model for most sounds. I only used a compressor for Lenny.

Thanks for watching. All comments are welcome!

  • Thick strings, jumbo frets, Eb tuning, matched pick will also help a lot not everything is hands

  • @pedrosobota

    You've got the point!!

  • great tone !! just stock p/u's on the deluxe?

  • @rcrinlv02

  • great tone. Do you use Amplitube 3 on Windows Vista?

  • @romeo623

I'm pretty sure it was Windows 7.

I was waiting for someone to tell me this story again. I know I'm not SRV, but I'm just doing an attempt to come as close to his tone as possible. I also know tone is in the hands, but SRV would sound pretty bad through a 50 dollar amp, altough he has "the hands".

  • @c4662 We all thank you for the brilliant and obvious observation. I think most people watching this video realize that specific artists' tones are the result of THREE things: their talent, their touch, and their equipment chain. Daan has very simply and kindly taken the time to show other YouTubers how closely one can get to SRV's signature sound using emulation software to duplicate the equipment chain. And I think he did a damn fine job. And he plays damn well too. Post your attempt.

  • Great pick en!!

  • Beautiful. Thanks.

  • Sounds like you nailed it to me... and the playing's good too, don't sell yourself short!

  • You've gotten pretty close, well done.

  • O.O!!! Amazing! Exactally his tone!

  • @DaanJM

Awesome. Wow - with so little effects also.

    Sweet job.

    Dead on!!!

  • Awesome tone and playing! SRV Man!! I'm a big fan of amplitube myself, thanks for posting the settings

  • man, I am not a fan of those simulators. Here I use a Fender Princeton and/or a Marshall MA100C, with my pedals, TS808, OD2, CE5, DSD2 and of course the Cry Baby Classic captured with a Shure SM57 Beta and sometimes with my Condenser Mic from Audio Techinica, but I am really impressed with the sound quality you got from this software. Congratulations !
