Carlos Hernandez joined the team at the half-way point of the 1990-91 season. As the only Senior, he provided leadership to a young Warrior team consisting of seven Freshman. Carlos played key minutes in the 1991 NCCAA IIA Final scoring off the bench in a close 72-71 win against Atlanta Christian.

Carlos was the Miami Christian Women's Volleyball Coach for 4 seasons. In his first season as Head Coach, he led a very inexperienced team all the way to the 1988 FCCC Conference Tournament Championship Final. The Lady Warriors defeated the host team, Warner-Southern College in a 5-game thriller to reach the tournament final.
Carlos was the first Latino elected MCC-SGA President. He went on to serve back-to-back terms, 1989-90 and 1990-91.
