  • Cool

  • Kenpochopper. Clearly you havnt read what i have posted, talking trash? where? Maybe do read before posting! Are you somehow saying that Vladimir Vasilev, Mikhail Ryabko and Daniel Ryabko .. all of who i have trained with are NOT true systema instructors? I have said a number of times that i like martins work and how he moves, i think he has some of the best martial movement skills i have seen in fact . But my comments are relevant to this video as a demonstration of 'Knife Defense' as titled.

  • Ive seen the skeptical challenge the greats in systema only to get off the floor in a rude awakening. As far a systema videos go, yes it looks fake and looks like there are holes but you will quickly find yourself turned into a human pin cushion from your own knife in the presence of a true systema instructor. Best way might be to attend and see for yourself instead of talking trash through a keyboard , like so many out there.

  • Im sure with Martin his attacker can have a knife in each hand and it wouldnt make much of a difference. Im sure this video was not intended for those who dont train in systema because those who never felt or attended systema classes/seminars just dont know and if they say they attended, they just didnt get it obviously. You will get cut no matter who you are, the question is the placement and severety of the damage that you take.

Martin is a real martial artist and very good at it.

  • @kawa7900 I have trained with Vladimir and Mikhail. Although i don't train in System i do respect it. This doesn't take away from issues with the 'non knife' weapons that are repeatedly ignored in the system though. Having been in real situations involving knives i can assure you people do not give up their structure or intent this easily. This looks more like a movement game to me ... if so it shouldn't be labeled knife defense. It will give inexperienced people the wrong idea in my opinion.

  • i think the whole exercise is about surviving , But yeh each fight senario is diffrent so its very difficult to replicate , hence each systema video on here has a diffrent take on it , but still they are all very good . But more important will give you a fighting chance , and can ultimately could save your life .

Being a 1st dan kickboxer and a 1st dan in WTF Taekwondo. But since i started training in systema , it has realy opend my eyes to how effective this system realy is .

  • Koshkudro, I didnt say he was a joke. As i said i enjoy most of his clips. But sparing and defending yourself against a determined attacker with a blade are two very different things. Do you not agree that if the attacker were aware of his other hand he would have been very dangerously in striking range!? Watch Vladimir here and you will see what i am talking about, the other hand is always alive not dead as per this clip.

  • @middleway100 i spared with martin wheeler i i assure he know what he is doing, He is no joke

  • interesting seeing things at this speed.

What immediately jumps out to me is the hand without the knife, as it does in all your knife clips. Do you consider how dangerous this weapon can be (hitting, checking etc with that hand)? Would be good to see some of the work with that considered. Although your opponents here aren't bothering to bring it into play, a trained attacker will ... dangerous position for you and an easy KO for them.

Really enjoy most of your clips for the record, thanks.

  • This was very interesting! Awesome video, Martin.
