Yes a great cyclist, but I am not convinced that he never took performance enhancing drugs, like EPO. Floyd Landis and Tyler Hamilton claim that he did. Before he had cancer he was a World Champion and Tour de France stage winner. Never a Grand Tour GC contender. He won in 99 aged 27 and the following six Tours. I think his first Tour win was too great a leap in performance especially since it was only 2 years or so after beating cancer. I hope he achieved his great wins without drugs.
