A short introduction in English to the current protests in France over a controversial new employment contract (the "CPE") hated by the young and the left, and not really loved by anyone except the Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin.

I get very angry when I see people being treated badly. The CPE is against the social teachings of the Catholic church through taking away a persons right to stable work. If just once a young person refuses to work overtime, if just once they go on strike or are seen discussing with a union activist, if they get pregnant, and so on, they are likely to be shown the door. This measure seeks to weaken the union movement even more and to prepare new attacks targeting all workers.

In America, our employers can get rid of us anytime they want. In order to prevent this, our work quality must warrant our continued employment.  Peaceful and voluntary exchange of both parties is necessary for civil society. Workers cannot demand that an employer buy their labor (give them a job) any more than McDonalds can force you to buy their hamburgers.

Ya des étudiants dans la rue et ca y est la télé dit que tout le monde est contre le CPE, n'importe quoi ya bien plus d'étudiants pour, qui ne manifestent pas.. Vive le CPE, chaque année y a une bonne raison pour louper des cours. Quel pays de merde la france, un pays dirigé par les syndicats de flemmards qui veulent continuer a bosser le moins possible sans pouvoir être viré..

Et comme par hazard plus de manifestations pendant les vacances scolaires, ptdr.
