Kathleen Kent is a tenth generation descendent of Martha Carrier. She paints a haunting portrait, not just of Puritan New England, but also of one family's deep and abiding love in the face of fear and persecution.

  • @reformedman - wow, you're really worked up over this.

  • @MrRedFredSaid

    goofus? what are you 10?

I am not claiming this is a court, I am saying normal intelligent people use this practice.

Whoever makes a claim is the one that should prove it, not the person hearing the claim.

Think about it, oh yeah, also breathe deeply, getting some oxygen into your brain may help.

  • @reformedman - This isn't a legal court. It's you tube, you goofus. You expressed curiousity. If you want the answer, the best way is to do the research yourself. Now, take a deep breath. Then slowly exhale. Really you'll feel lots better.

  • @MrRedFredSaid I can tell you are not much of an analyst. A person cannot research an assertion. It is the burden of proof on the one making the assertion to prove his posit. Having read much of Cotton Mather and secondary sources on Mather, her assertion seemed to me skeptical. If I for example assert that JFK had a blue car, but you've read stories about his red car and you question him having a blue car, who has the burden to document the proof? Ofcourse the person who made the assertion.

  • @reformedman - on the other hand, if you're so desperate to know, you could maybe do your own research. Just a thought. Cheers.

  • I would have to look to see If I can find it, I am sure it is somewhere other than the Internet but that is my source at the moment.

  • Could you please document that assertion?

  • it is in documents from that time.

  • One of the best books I read last year (2008). I'm looking forward to your next work.
