Let's Play Minecraft on Hard Part 2 - Walls and Tidiness!

Now that I have found and established a base within this giant cave, I need to get some walls up pronto in order to keep out roaming monsters at night.

Unfortunately in order to do this I need to get a good deal of cobblestone and dirt, which means that it is time to shave a bit off of the ceiling and the floor to help makes things less claustrophobic. This is one of the beauties of using a natural cave as a base and to me the greatest advantage. When the time comes to clean up and get things looking nice you end up with extra building materials to use later down the road while avoiding strip mining in excess.

Down the road however I am going to be getting a ton of furnaces running and start pumping out items such as rock and sand. While I plan on keeping my buildings small, outposts near areas rich with caves will require a small building with at least a chest, furnace, and workbench. While one can bring along a ton of stuff for exploration, I find it easier to drop small buildings and load them up with items instead as a waypoint so I can bring home maximum loot.
