I decided to change the information on this a little bit. This will be episode 1 of a short mini series showing how to kill Koin fashionably and totally NOT the way you're supposed to!

For those of you who don't know much about the Donkey Kong Country 3 game, Koin is an enemy that you must defeat in order to retrieve the DK Coin. Koin is usually hidden like the bonus barrels and you are only supposed to kill him using a steel barrel! Sometimes figuring out how to kill Koin is a puzzle in itself.

In this video, I will show you a way to kill Koin in the Gameboy Advance version using the T.N.T. Barrel. If you follow my instructions carefully, you will never fail to kill Koin using the T.N.T.

Simply, get close to Koin so your T.N.T. barrel will ignite, causing quite the racket and some minor lag. While the explosion is still taking place, jump up or on top of Koin so he will raise his shield up, leaving his body exposed to the T.N.T.'s explosion. It is as simple as that.

  • Having just watched this again, I realised my glitch was different to your method. Still very impressive though!

  • I think I've done it the way you described, Rainiac. I think it's the same idea as the old SNES trick. I'll upload it anyway.

  • Cool!

  • Booya. I killed Koin with the green guy! Hopefully I can catch it on tape now!

  • Done. Posted!

  • Cool! A Glitch

  • This is a damn cool glitch. I can only guess it happens because Koin's shield doesn't properly load when he's off the screen. I managed to do this during a failed take of one part of my Let's Play (Stormy Seas), but was unfortunately able to show it off on the finished vid. Luckily, you now have shown this off, so major thanks!
