  • Where is this, sounds a little German or something.

Guess someone must do this, or there wouldn't be any pots at wally worlds and hby lobby to buy instead of our pots HaHa.

We are the lucky ones if can throw all day for fun and relaxation.

  • I love all your videos. I wanted to drop you a line on this one especially. I studied this video for a long time. I feel I made a huge improvement in the way I make galleries and your first pull looks tricky, but I think I have it down as well. I have learned a lot form the few videos you posted, mostly time saving tricks of a production potter. I also find it a waste of time to trim the bottom while throwing, I find the original form stays more pure and it takes a few seconds more to trim.

  • Amazing, that's a lot of skill right there.

  • I have this job and it is not bad at all you get to work on your throwing speed and skills rather than working like slug always aiming for perfection. And japanese potters spend five years just throwing cylenders in some places to work on their pulls. I bet each pot he makes sells for a good 30-40 dollars. how much are you making?

  • Thank you very much!

  • Yeah, I noticed that he didn't trim any before removing it from the wheel too...that's just more work at the leather hard stage.

I would hope he throws other forms for variety.

If it works for him, that's great.

  • I agree, leaving the bottom wet is something most of us are trained not to do, but I also see tat he didn't trim up the bottom on the side either. I would think that they would crack, but he probably wouldn't keep doing it that way if it didn't work for him. Ya' think he ever throws in a vase just for variety, and to keep from losing his mind?

  • This is persistance, control, and facility. Ain't nothin' wrong with that. Nice fluid, efficient movement.

  • This would be a boring job, all day production work of the same thing.

I think it's a mistake not to dry the pots out before cutting and removing them from the wheel.

Can you imagine having that pile of clay sitting there and throwing the same thing all day everyday???
