This is a quality test for the Black Magic Intensity Pro capture card on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, MW3. This video is mainly for people interested in buying the product and want to see what it looks like on MW3, I do this every year so people can compare.
Recorded in 720p via HDMI on XBOX 360.

Render Settings:

.mp4 1280x720
Modified version of Small Bean's settings, I use 16-20MBp/s instead of 8.
-------------
Now, because my past quality tests have been bombarded with questions, I have decided to make a little FAQ for this capture card, so read below before asking any questions. Infact, check Google if you cant find your question here, Google will know ;)
- FAQ -
Q: Can this capture card record in HD?
A: Yes. It can record 720p and 1080i - 720p looks better though.
Q: Does this support HDMI?
A: Yes. Component cables too.
Q: Is this better than the HD PVR?
A: Yes, when captured via HDMI the text is clearer and the quality is generally better. But to be honest you can barely notice the difference once it's on YouTube. I do not want to start any more arguments about this, again - on YouTube the difference is minimal and is more about render settings.
Q: How does it work?
A: It's fitted INSIDE your PC, you need a spare PCI-E slot in your computer. If you have a laptop/no spare PCI-E slots, you can but the Intensity Shuttle, which is the same card but external instead and uses USB3.0 to transfer data.
Q: Does this work on a Mac?
A: Yes, Windows and Mac.
Q: How much does this cost?
A: They are around £130 currently.
Q: Where can I buy one?
A: Google Product Search: http://www.google.com/products?q=blackmagic+intensity+pro
Q: What are your render settings?
A: Look above.
Q: What filesize are the videos the BMIP makes?
A: Each file is about 0.9GB per minute recorded with the compressed format.
Q: What program do you use to record?
A: Blackmagic Media Express - it comes with the capture card.
Q: Can you record PS3?
A: Yes; PS3, XBOX 360, Wii and probably some older consoles too...
Q: What's the difference between the Blackmagic Intensity and the Blackmagic Intensity Pro?
A: The Pro version has a set of breakout cables so you can record component video and audio. Both capture via HDMI.
Q: Is their any delay from TV to xbox?
A: None.
Q: The shuttle uses USB 3.0. Does this mean it won't work at all with USB 2.0?
A: USB 2.0 is too slow to transfer the video files.
Q: What are the minimum specs my PC needs for this capture card?
A: http://www.blackmagic-design.com/support/detail.asp?techID=47 - I would recommend a dual core 2.8GHz+ proccessor, 3GB+ DDR2 RAM and a fast dedicated hard drive. My old PC was around those stats and it ran fine.
My new PC specs: Quad Core Intel i7 860 2.8GHz overclocked to 3.4GHz, 4GB DDR3 RAM (soon to be 8GB, waiting on repair), fast 1TB Harddrive, ATI 6870 HD Graphics Card.

Call of Duty: MW3 Blackmagic Intensity Pro HDMI Quality Test & FAQ
Ain't Blackmagic a tad cheaper? I don't think YT displays any quality difference, why won't people get this one instead of HD PVR? q:D
bawYARR 3 months ago
@bawYARR Yeah slightly cheaper, the software and raw clips are easier to use, and you can record via HDMI.
But for some reason a lot of people seem to think this card is hard to use/install because it's PCI-E. It's really not, just plug it in and install (took like 5 mins).
If you cant use PCI-E they now have an external card called the Shuttle that uses USB3.0 to transer data.
I feel like a salesman lol but just wanna show that this card is easy to use and good quality.

It looks the same as a pvr
uCraigg 3 months ago
@uCraigg Yeah it pretty much does look the same on YouTube, slightly cleared text though. I make these Quality Tests each year to clear up misconceptions about the capture card, and also so people can see what it looks like if they're interested in purchasing it.
