  • on how many volts does this thing run? on the schematics, what are "gate" and "CV" for?

  • It will run on 9V, any voltage within the operating range for the 4017/555 chip.

    Gate and CV (control voltage) are the outputs of the sequencer, to be fed into the VCO. The VCO I used in the video was a very simple 555 timer based vco, gate was connected to the RESET pin, and CV was connected to Control Voltage pin.
