  • Does anybody know where I can find an episode of this? I'm really looking for the 1st episode on september 11th, 1976, but the only videos I can find is this promo...

  • The late Jackie Cooper appears on camera..briefly with Soupy and two other celebrity coaches.

  • Gatorman,Regardless..The other damn ABC TV affilliates didn't air the show at 12:00 P.M. and despite the success that the show had in Cal.,NYC,and Chicago..it never gain an audience and it was banished to sunday morning reruns after one season.

  • Dear 3rd Stooge, This show was not seen in one timeslot..many affilates of The ABC TV network aired the show in different timeslots. The viewers never got the chance to see it and it was never able to gain an audience.

  • My God! that's the voice of announcer:Art Gilmore..the announcer of

    "The Red Skelton Hour!".

  • Quoth Soupy in Gary H. Grossman's "Saturday Morning TV": "The show was a hit in Chicago, in New York, and in Los Angeles. . . .I think we might have been the first show to beat "Fat Albert" in some areas. But we weren't on enough markets. Cities like Pittsburgh, Columbus, Boston and Detroit didn't keep us on, and Hoston played the show early in the morning. . . .[T]he show was better than any of the cartoons. At least it looked live, and real people were participating."

  • It's an all-new Funshine Saturday this fall on ABC! 8-)

  • Is this the show that was taped at the Astrodome?

  • Charlie Jones was first paired with Lynn Shackleford who had played college basketball for John Wooden at UCLA. Shackleford always seemed to look confused. He would be replaced by Regis Philbin who had a much better grasp of the show. If I remember, AAG pitted three teams representing small towns against each other. The team I remember the most came from Havre de Grace, Maryland.

  • Yes. Along with the main sportscaster, Charlie Jones (NBC Sports) who also did one of my favotires, Pro Fan.
