This method gets the shop keep stuck to where he can't move without your help. Thus yeilding the ability for you to steal things from his store at your leisure. It also helps alot to be good so that the people will follow you and not say no and run away in fear...
*note*: villagers might come in to geet you a.k.a catch you in the act.

@hriukskis ok it is simple go to the demon door and turn on the lamp then he will say stuff then he will open. hope i helped.

i done it at oakvale the stealing thing and i lead him out of the city and told him to wait in barrow fields and he did i went back to oakvale and the shop was foe sale

In The Lost Chapters it opens back up and is rebuilt. So you can go in there and mess around.

It's actually quite simple, "your path is dark" basically means what it says, the path you walk on is dark. Just use your lamp in front of him ;)
