i hate paints like that .. once someone dents ur door you can never make it match the whole car again + u need to find someone who is really really good with paint

@fordfocusseferrari - yes - while I was sad to see the retail store shut down, wasn't surprised. A high-end Mustang business really can't support the retail traffic to survive with a retail store. They had $75 Saleen polo shirts and other brand merchandise - just not that many people interested in buying that stuff.

@chevyslick The formal term is 'iridescent', although some people call it chameleon. Wikipedia says "Iridescence is an optical phenomenon of surfaces in which hue changes in correspondence with the angle from which a surface is viewed."

just to set the record straight on reflection

a car is shiny because it is smooth not because it is any more reflective than say a piece of white paper

in reality the opposite is true and the paper is more reflective but its diffuse reflection.

reflection has nothing to do with how mirror like a surface is, ALL colored surfaces are reflective.

a red object is red because its reflecting back only the red light and absorbing all other wavelengths.

a pure white object reflects all wavelengths.

@ministryofp4in Actually thats wrong. You dont have to blend or anything. Just paint the whole panel. I have painted a couple cars in this type of paint. And had to do repairs on them after accidents. Its the easiest and best paint to match. Just paint the whole panel and your done.

@ministryofp4in We have a 1996 Mystic Cobra and a 2004 Mystichrome Cobra and have had repairs done on each. The Chromalusion paint is super easy to match. You just paint whatever panel is damaged it always blends. The paint is prism cut flakes in clear paint over a black base. The prism flakes are the color. The drawback is the paint is expensive.

I have a 96 Mystic, paint matching was NO problem, they say it is easier to paint the the pearl paint used on alot of cars!

its only an 18k paint job because it says Saleen on the car. In reality its about 1k in paint plus 1k for a good painter and booth. Hmmm Can we buy one primed and ready for paint for 16,000 less? ;o)~
