I'll admit that he wasn't as buffed as Batman usually is in the comics, but the perfect Bat-costumes of '89' and 'Returns' somehow made him bigger, more intimidating. Then again, being average in size, we could hardly believe Keaton was Batman, and that's what made him the perfect Bruce Wayne. As Burton put it, "If he (Wayne) was Arnold Schwarzenegger, he wouldn't need to wear a costume."
