Protests against austerity measures have flared up once more in cities across Europe. A 24-hour general strike is underway in Portugal over public sector pay cuts and tax rises, two days before parliament votes on a severe new budget. The strike is set to cause the biggest disruption in the country for over two decades. Meanwhile, unrest is building in the UK over the government's proposals to increase university tuition fees.

  • 1.4 trillion for bank bailouts. This is very sick indeed. Get the banks and bankers seize their assets and put them in prison.

  • The commentator really likes to talk over the student, it's very disrespectful and annoying. The young people today are our only hope, because the older folks have proven to be docile sheep who have already accepted their enslavement.

  • No income because all the real jobs that pay and produce wealth went to china... They have all the money the rest of the world sucks it. You can cut all you want and it will never be better. You have to make sure the rich invest in the west again and ignore china.

  • I wish the people were smart and target the 3rd world shit skins the rich use to grind down their labor cost, and the rich themselves for trying to force the people to live with and accept 3rd world shit skins.

  • just one fix!

  • who to blame...hmmm...perhaps the greedy bankers who take our savings and invest them in the stock market...and then they lose the money...now they owe the people....das es ist ihren schuld...

  • Oh, Whah, I might actually not be able to steal money to pay for education services because that mentality has bankrupted the State.

  • @smither1102 Yeah right - millions of educated people across the whole or Europe are protesting because they are so thick... they should ask an american teenager to explain to them what's really happening. Note: Europe is different from the US. Why? Because we're looking over the Atlantic and thinking - what a fucked up country, lets not copy those poor bastards!

  • How come the credit ratings agencies have come out of this whole debacle with no criticism? They seem to be to blame, as they rated all these crap firms and their products AAA. Now Standard and Poor gets to call all the shots on government debt. How come the guys who caused the crash get to decide the way forward? They're effectively deciding what the likes of Greece get charged for their debt and therefore their government's policies. Who gave them the job?

  • What a bunch of dumbasses they are rioting because they have to pay for school? give me a break these kids have done nothing in their lives to add to the government and now they are mad because they have to pay? why dont you just enslave all your professors because its crazy to think they would want to be paid to be teaching you... clearly these kids arnt educated

  • @bigpapi255 im sorry, but your country is so dumb.........

  • @1englishbulldog You're stereotyping has proved that SOME brits are dumb. Remember that your country has gone hand in hand with mine into Iraq and Afghanistan.

But lets get real here, there is no such thing as "Americans" or "Brits" only human beings. The borders are just artificial lines constructed to pit us against one another and allow the rulers to continue to profit and control us.
