Never have I seen such an amazing bass player. Now that I have watched all of your vids, or at least most of them, you make me want to buy a : Fender, P bass, Maple fingerboard, Badass II, with black mark lines (hope I can call it that way). Sorry for my english dude, I never comment such videos, but I wanted you to know that you are a special bass player with a badass smooth sliding. Cheers from Uruguay (yes, the country that was 4th at south africa)

Excellent cover. I don't think it could be done much better than that. Also, I was wondering how you made it. I mean the microphone that you used and the source for the original music itself. Was it coming off a stereo? Keep us the good work.

are your knobs stock? if not, this could be the answer to my unidentifiable bass

smooth stuff, chief; keep it going!!!

One final comment. Use an HD camera next time, so I can follow your fingers better! They are a blur!

GREAT job in picking out the song ending bass lines. The original recording is not great, and at the end the left and right channels seem to switch back and forth making it even more difficult to hear what's being played. Btw, I highly recommend software such as Transscribe, where one can slow down the recording (without changing the key), bump the song up an octave, and filter out the high frequencies. It makes a world of difference in being able to hear the bass-line better.

No one can play the song perfect, except for Jones. BassManOnTheHill plays it excellent, and I'm being picky since I can't play it good yet. At the 1 minute mark (measure 25) there is a walk-up from the low E to the next octave. On the original recording Jones does not play the G# twice, but plays more of a ghost note on the second G#. BassMan also rushes (or plays too fast) the two E notes in measure 26. But I have not seen anyone play it better than the BassMan (except Jones) .Excellent!!
what brand of nickel strings are they?

@kingkeith666 These were DR Sunbeams I'm pretty sure. I switch from time to time,

are you using flatwounds? or is it just the pickups?
TNTIV 9 months ago
@TNTIV ha, ha, do I not get any credit for shear smooth style. No, seriously, I'm just using nickel roundwounds, and the pickups are stock. It helps to get your neck polished up for some smooth gliding. My frets are pretty worn, helping maintain smoother sliding (not that I wouldn't mind refretting the bass).

@BassManOnTheHill do you have any tips for a beginner
weponspec1682 8 months ago
@weponspec1682 Sure, I recommend playing until your fingers are tough as leather. At first you'll get blisters, but they eventually turn to calis. Also, learn music theory, you know , scales, modes, fingering methods. Try to use some practice time for pure improv as well. Good Luck, you'll bet back what you put into it. Be patiient. Like any instrument, the bass can take some time to gain a smooth style. Best Wishes
