AT&T's roadmap for the first quarter of 2012 leaked this week showing us what exactly AT&T is going to launch later this year and when they are going to launch it. First off they'll release the HTC Titan II, Sony Xperia Ion, Nokia Lumia 900, and Sony Crystal tablet on March 18th. But if you don't want to wait all the way until the middle of March you can get some smartphones that are going to arrive on February 18th. That list includes the Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Rugby Smart, and AT&T Fusion. But if you are willing to wait until even after March you can get the Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD, or Samsung Exhilarate on AT&T's network.
This week there were some more rumors on the upcoming Nokia Lumia 910 which is now rumored to be basically just like the Lumia 900 but with some improvements. We might see a larger 12MP camera but we don't know much more than that quite yet. It's rumored to arrive some time in May of this year and it might arrive on carriers other than AT&T, like Sprint or Verizon for example in the United States.
We learned that Samsung is both the most popular as far as sales go and the most preferred Android smartphone OEM in the United States right now. Right now they have 47-percent of the United States smartphone market share when it comes to Android phones which is quite a lot of market share. We also learned that YouTube continued to grow over the past while since Google announced that there are more than four billion video views on YouTube per day. And a total of an hour of video is uploaded to YouTube every second. Apple also announced some pretty impressive information. They announced their Q1 2012 earnings and it's another record quarter for Apple. And one interesting bit of information we learned is that Apple has a total of over $97 billion in cash just laying around waiting to be spent.
Today RIM announced that their current CEOs will be stepping down. Jim Balsille and Mike Lazaridis will both be stepping down and they're naming Thorsten Heins the new CEO of RIM. Heins has been working at RIM for a while and his former position was the COO. Both Lazaridis and Balsille will remain on RIM's board but according to Bloomberg they don't have any operational role.
We heard a little bit more about the upcoming Microsoft Xbox 360 successor which will probably be called the Xbox 720. It's supposed to have AMD Radeon HD 6000 series graphics, have a Blu-ray reader, and not support used games. it might also have Kinect built in somehow. It's rumored to be showed off at E3 2012 later this year and then be released probably in the late fall of 2013.
