why didnt he light it when he was cought?

u could actually stop the fire when stepped on it vigorously! I know, its 2009 now, while u posted in 2008....

I went to wikipedia, and searched, Guy Fawkes. There was a picture of him struggling to get released from the 2 guards, why dont u try looking at the pic!

maybe they prevented him from lighting it

the king and the noblemen weren't above at the time...it would just have been a rather loud suicide - and if you listened carefully the commentary informed us that Fawkes was caught leaving the chamber....and arrested away from the gunpowder...
