UK singer Jona Lewie enjoyed major chart success in Australia in 1980/81.
This was his second hit ... released late in 1980 & reaching No.2 early in 81.
This was Jona's Christmas song for 1980 ... though heavily disguised.

@22STEVIEKC Many people think wrongly this song is about christmas when in reality it's nothing to do with it, it was about soldiers in the first world war fighting to escape the horrors of being stuck in the trenches hence the lyric "I wish i was home for christmas" the sound of bells were added to the song primarily to give it a christmas theme!

Yes ... he is a great singer/songwriter from the 70s/80s.
His time at Stiff records was when he had his greatest commercial success ...
I do have quite a few clips of Jona's including "Louise" ,"... kitchen at parties", "I think I'll get my haircut" .... I might download them to YT soon =)
