Filtercrete pervious concrete, a US EPA approved BMP, is a structural pavement that eliminates stormwater runoff, cleans stormwater and infiltrates the clean water into the ground, fights urban heat island due to its light reflective surface reflecting sunlight, and is tree friendly allowing air to the roots, protecting them from damage, and allowing every parking lot to look like an orchard. The number one source of water pollution in US today is stormwater runoff from pavements; Filtercrete can mitigate the pollutants naturally through filtration, microbial conversion, and chemical bonding. This presentation includes an introduction to Filtercrete Pervious concrete, its benefits and comparisons to conventional stormwater BMP's, design and construction of pervious concrete systems and recent research and project information.
