Excerpted from the DVD "Afro-Cuban Drumset: Grooves You Can Use" featuring Curt Moore, whose credits include stints with Francisco Aguabella, Pete Escovedo, Andy Narell, and Steve Turre. The DVD is a three-hour master class in playing Afro-Cuban percussion parts on the drumset covering 99 grooves in Cha Cha, Mambo Son, Bolero, and Afro 6/8 song styles. Includes full notation, performances by Curt's band 'Soul Sauce', and extensive interactive practice tools and play-along loops.

Moore also uses his distinctive "Latin Feet/Jazz Feet" teaching method to introduce the tumbao bass drum patterns to those who are new to the concept.

"Afro-Cuban Drumset" is available at Amazon.com.

  • is this dvd any good for a beginer (in this music) not drums in genral, im totally new to latin drumset and dont wanna get anything to deep at first.. really like it tho and would love to become a latin player.. any advice would be appreciated

  • Although some drumset proficiency is expected, the DVD presents groove patterns that run from very basic to quite advanced. Seasoned players will appreciate the more difficult "orchestrations" and "opposite hand" options, while drummers that are new to the style will benefit from Moore's "Latin Feet/Jazz Feet" teaching method as they learn the tumbao concept.

  • where can i pick this dvd up?

  • As a filmmaker it's refreshing to see a well-lit, well-shot, well-edited and well-written intro to a music instructional series. This is so rarely seen on YouTube. Best wishes, Hunter
