DESCRIPTION: Speaking at the annual conference which celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Georgia Mental Health Consumers Network, pioneer activist Larry Fricks outlined the organization's stepping stones toward success. Fricks once served as director for consumer affairs for Georgia's division of mental health. He has actively contributed to building the grassroots movement that developed certified peer services, and is currently involved in the reconfiguration of programs for recovery with the Center for Integrated Health Solutions (SAMHSA).

Portions of this keynote address have been edited for length, including the numerous applause interruptions.
