@waterpimpernell The two have totally different takes on Holmes. There's not really any point comparing them. They don't even take place in the same time. Anyway, the idea that because he's not AS GOOD as Brett he can't be good at all is a complete fallacy. As is the idea somebody must be wrong if they have taste that differs from yours. Personally, I love them both as Holmes.

@nineteenthcenturyeng you have people like Jack Stapleton... and Holmes spends his retirement beekeeping. I wouldn't say they were the best examples of sanity, but they definitely deviously minded people...

I grew up watching Brett reruns on ITV3 with my parents, so naturally he's my favourite Holmes, notwithstanding his absolutely amazing performances, though Benedict Cumberbatch is taking a closer second than I thought anyone ever would.
