CalMac save the day again! The ship had already left the slipway but they noticed a cyclist waving frantically as she cycled along the causeway to the left of the ferry terminal. The Skipper of the MV Loch Portain, who had a tricky crossing ahead of him - 9 1/2 miles with 22 course alterations - thought nothing of coming back for the stranded cyclist!

  • Ah,that brings back memories of the time I stayed a tad long in the Kilchoan bar on route to Tobermory and the last ferry did the same for me as I raced down the slipway shouting wait for me,hysterically.Couldn't believe my luck when they actually came back.

  • @meiklefielder I can't help thinking - if the same person was in a city, wanting to catch a bus, would the driver have behaved in the same way? I doubt it, don't you?

  • Great to see humanity working here. If she was cycling through London for example , the buggers would have knocked her down without a second thought then blame her! Three cheers for Calmac.

  • @CallYouWhoosh I saw it happen with a London night bus in Kensington, around midnight

  • Yep,manys a time I've been left standing breathless at an Edinburgh bus stop
