Here's the thing. The Hosts were indeed wonderful and the Show is wonderful. Anthony Bourdain is great. Saudis are also great.

But this is Keeping up Appearances. This kind of arrangement would be totally unacceptable to most in Saudi culture.

Heck, Cameras? Most men on the Streets would throw FISTS if they saw you filming their Women. And a young Saudi woman strolling the streets with a middle-aged White American man? With Cameras all around?

Lets not kid ourselves. This isn't the reality.

@shoedoctor99 yeah, you're right. They were escorted by the police, national guard and air forces.

you're probably a paki and the best source you have is a visit to somewhere in Saudi Arabia 20 years ago.

Things have changed in the last 10 years.

Jeddah has never been like Riyadh where most conservatives live. Even in Riyadh, people would not through anything at you if you're filming in public. The worst thing that could happen is they would call the police. If you have a license, you're fine.

@Mo0o0ne As an American, I really did enjoy seeing this. I cant stand the constant bombardment of the media on your culture. Most of the people I know would completely agree with me. This show is a shining example of how wonderful your culture and heritage really is. God/ Allah bless you from the States!

@zmnghreeb ،الآية موجهة لنساء النبي كما بدأت بنداء صريح و محدد و لا يقبل اللبس.

بل و يميزهن عن بقية النساء. فالآية تبدأ بقوله تعالى (يا نساء النبي لستن كأحد من النساء إن اتقيتن)

أما حكاية قرر العلماء، فهذي يرد عليها قول الإمام ابن مالك، فقول كم عالم غير ملزم، بالإضافة إلى أنه لا يوجد إجماع على شمول نساء المسلمين بهذا الخطاب.

أنت ترى أنه زمن أنصاف الرجال و غيرك يرى أنه زمن أنصاف العقول و غيري يرى أنه زمن الرويبضة و كل يضع نفسه قيّما على زمننا هذا.

ستقول ان الخطاب موجه لزوجات الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم.. ولكن قرر العلماء انه خطاب لجميع المسلمات... وبعدين والله هزلت يعني هذي اللي تطلع في التلفزيون وتسولف وتضحك وتتعشى مع رجل اجنبي لا وبعد تسبح بحجابها اقسم لك بالله العظيم انها اسائت للحجاب ولكل امة محمد اين الغيره.. وتماريني في كلمة انها تمثل اردى انواع المجتمع السعودي.... هي تريد تمثل السعوديات ولكنها لا تمثلهن لانهن لا يظهرن بهذه الصوره المقيته... قل فكر منحرف فنحن في زمن انصاف الرجال...

@zmnghreeb و لو إن نقاشك يظهر بأسلوب محترم، لكني أستغرب وصف الأخت دانية بإنها من أردى فئات الشعب السعودي كونها لم توافق طريقتك في الحياة و رأيك في الحجاب و الاختلاط.

السؤال هنا:

ما سبب إيرادك للآية هنا؟ هل تعلم لمن كان الخطاب موجّها ؟
