Touching version here by Sinéad from the 1998 album 'Across The Bridge Of Hope'
A benefit album for the 28 people who died in the terrorist bombing in the town of Omagh in 1998. Features 14 fitting tracks from top Irish artists,
The album is further augmented by two poems read by actor Liam Neeson. Seamus Heaney, Ireland's Nobel Laureate in Poetry, handpicked the first,"The Cure at Troy." The second poem, from which the album borrows its name, was penned by twelve-year-old Sean McLaughlin shortly before he was killed by in the bombing. It reads: "Orange and green it does not matter/United now, don't shatter our dream/Scatter the seeds of peace over our land/So we can travel, hand in hand/Across the bridge of hope."

All proceeds from the album will benefit the Omagh Memorial Trust, which was created to assist the families of the bomb's victims as well as any future memorials and related charities.

Lyrics
Chiquitita, tell me whats wrong
Youre enchained by your own sorrow
In your eyes there is no hope for tomorrow
How I hate to see you like this
There is no way you can deny it
I can see that youre oh so sad, so quiet

Chiquitita, tell me the truth
Im a shoulder you can cry on
Your best friend, Im the one you must rely on
You were always sure of yourself
Now I see youve broken a feather
I hope we can patch it up together

Chiquitita, you and I know
How the heartaches come and they go and the scars theyre leaving
Youll be dancing once again and the pain will end
You will have no time for grieving
Chiquitita, you and I cry
But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you
Let me hear you sing once more like you did before
Sing a new song, chiquitita
Try once more like you did before
Sing a new song, chiquitita

So the walls came tumbling down
And your loves a blown out candle
All is gone and it seems too hard to handle
Chiquitita, tell me the truth
There is no way you can deny it
I see that youre oh so sad, so quiet

Chiquitita, you and I know
How the heartaches come and they go and the scars theyre leaving
Youll be dancing once again and the pain will end
You will have no time for grieving
Chiquitita, you and I cry
But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you
Let me hear you sing once more like you did before
Sing a new song, chiquitita
Try once more like you did before
Sing a new song, chiquitita
Try once more like you did before
Sing a new song, chiquitita

  • better than abba, no doubt.

  • a very unique voice im glad i discovered! also like the way she always kept her sound original with that celtic blend of her homeland!

  • @BartholomewCounty Thank god you said that.

  • Check out the way she looks today. Same voice, same talent, same arrogance and all, same 'I take myself so fucking seriously' as before, just....different body shape!

  • @MyMagyarorszag Why do people go on mixing talent and private life? I just cannot understand it.... How can one thing maculate the other??? please!!

  • I only like one song by Sinead and this aint it. Yeah, good voice but she is a weirdo.

  • Wrong video this TThank you.

    .,

  • Stop droning on about her looks or her life and listen to het voice, AMAZING

  • This is a Grand Lady, mother of 4 and has had by no means an easy life. She deserves a lot better. Hope she will be ok ASAP. You touched our hearts and we love you Sinéad, be sure of that fact. RESPECT!

  • This is beautiful. She's quite talented with melancholy melodies. I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did. (I concur, I think Sinead's pretty with long hair.)
