We've got to have a civilian national security force (Police) that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded." Obama wants a civilian security force as powerful and as well-funded as the Department of Defense. Would that include giving these cops automatic rifles, helicopters, and missile launchers? Will the uniforms be brown? And what swastika will they wear?

Hwy checkpoints are entirely reasonable, especially anywhere in southern Arizona.I've been on the desert trails illegals use to get around Hwy checkpoints. Checkpoints work. I prefer stopping them at the border. Enforce the border at the border is first choice so don't throw away one tool that actually does work. May checkpoints soon be unnecessary! Not holdng breath

@aztelegraph Where in the constitution does it give the government the power to run checkpoints inside the US? It says that the government will not interfere with interstate travel. They are stopping and arresting people that are US citizens for no reason. The government has the power to protect the borders, which they have refused to do. See Border Patrol Catch and Release Program, tell me they are really looking for illegals. Also checking for drugs is illegal in its self so dont believe that.

Hwy checkpoints help force illegal traffic on to foot and into the desert where they have less chance of reaching civilization. If you get your way we will have 20 million more socialist voters. There are 20mil illegals in the US, the 911 terrorist were invited here by our government & their visas were extended 6 months after the attack, the war on drugs gives the cops confiscatory power & makes them $ billions. Our borders are not controlled & while this guy is harassing citizens the border 100 miles away is wide open. @wontgoslo You missed the point, you are handing over your rights to people that are your adversaries, not your advocates. They are not charged with protecting your rights, only you can do that! This was not at the border, it was a suspension less stop. A cops main job is to protect the government from us. If hes doing such a great job then why is he not patrolling the border? If you really loved this country then you would be pissed at your constitutional rights being totally disregarded.
