The Beach Boys' first UK TV appearance, November 6, 1964.

Following afternoon rehearsals, their performance of 'I Get Around' and 'When I Grow Up (To Be A Man)' - complete with false start - is transmitted live this evening. The show's co-host Keith Fordyce asks Mike about surfing and Brian about his thoughts on Britain, but questions and replies are drowned out by hysterical screams from the studio audience. This performance becomes the first chance that TV viewers in the UK have to see the group in action. Brian tells Earl Leaf: "Ready Steady Go! was a blast! But they pulled Mike into the crowd off camera, which was kind of stupid."

  • Mike Love is the whitest guy I've ever seen. Great performance though.

  • I'm only 14 and I love the beach boys & Carl was so cute. They all had a voice of an angel. Wish I grew up in the 60s instead of all this crappy music today

  • Keith Fordyce "What do you want to see here?"

Brian-"See as many kids possibly as we can, mostly the kids, younger people.

Keith Fordyce "Yea Whatever, that was weird"

  • I'm glad Mike's nephew is on my NBA fantasy team. Double doubles nearly every night.

  • This happened almost 50 years ago... Unbelievable.

  • a really talented and musically capable band. They may appear trendy posers but they are real musicians, it's all a business trick. But it would be better if their target group weren't teenyboppers and ignorant little girls. After all, like the Beatles, they started making their music some years later.

  • We need to bring this kind of music back. I can't stand any more crappy music that my friends listen too. Music to its roots!

  • They were more interested in the women screaming at them than talking with the interviewer. hee hee.

  • @adaniru Mmm. Idk about that.

  • @jandean61 I really like The Beatles and The Beach Boys, The Beatles where the best on pop, and The Beach Boys where the best of Southern Rock, have nothing to do with each other.

  • i like the beatles and these guys
