Karen Taylor demonstrates the use of color-based key words for teaching pronunciation-- specifically, word stress and vowel quality. Prior to this lesson, students were introduced to The Color Vowel Chart and had practiced referring to color names as an oral shorthand for identifying the stressed vowel.   • The sound quality isn't the best, so here are some notes to help make sense of what you're hearing: just prior to this lesson, I've asked the students to make a list of "problem words"-- words that, for them, are difficult to say AND important in their everyday lives. The first word we talk about is "develop" (with a Spanish-speaking female student); the second word is "NASA Goddard" (with a Japanese-speaking male student who was a researcher at Goddard); and so on.
