  • Actually, this song was written by Keith Whitley...Dean Dillon? Really? Better check your sources.

  • @gottabighorn

Thanks for trying to help, but this song was written by Dean Dillon. Keith Whitley only covered it.

The U.S. Copyright office has “words & music” attributed to Dillon in 1980. Whitley’s recording of it is copyrighted, but only as a recording and that wasn’t until his 1985 "L.A. to Miami" album.

  • @WinstonFreedman So sorry, buddy. You are correct. My source was a biased old friend of Keith's. Guess he's still dealing with grief and denial...

It's alright. I'm glad you cared enough to let me know when you thought I made a mistake.

  • o.o Did anyone else hear the some guy talk when it started?

  • "no one in his right mind would left her, even my heart was smart enough to stay behind", It took me years to get over Norma. when I listened to this song in the past I didn't know I would come back to haunt me. No one greater for sentiments then George Strait.

  • I really don't believe Alex is in his right mind or he would have stayed, we definately had a great thing.

  • @FallenAngelvt

That’s something I can't say. Gary Allan summed it up well saying “it burns as slow as whiskey through an empty aching soul.” I know it can pass, at rare times, in a few weeks or it can last for years. It mostly depends on how close you were to her and how it ended. The best thing I can really offer is hopes that for you it goes a little more quickly. God bless.

  • @WinstonFreedman BTW how long does it take for the pain to subside?
