Rare footage of Brian Epstein (yes him) introducing Gerry and the Pacemakers to US audiences for the first time via a UK/US TV link up. The American host is Jack Jones - and Brian has a nervous charm about him.
Hope you like this little piece of Pop history.

Gerry always had and still has a great voice. He's singing a great song that if memory serves was written by the great Bobby Darin.

I don't like how the light shadows the other players.
But I love this band! They were popular, but are still underated considering their talent. Especially by younger people today, just because they were an image of bubblegum.
Gerry has a magical voice!! :)

This group helped carry me, and thousands, through the trials and tribulations of teenage angst. Thanks Gerry and The Pacemakers. Thanks for posting this. I am grateful.

On this day in 1965 {January 12th} Gerry and the Pacemakers performed "I'll Be There" on the NBC-TV program 'Hullabaloo'...
One month earlier on December 12th, 1964 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #14 and spent 10 weeks on the Top 100...
It reached #15 on the United Kingdom's Singles chart...
The song was written and originally recorded by Bobby Darin in 1960; his version peaked at #79...
