The first Sig Mosquito that I purchased back in 2006 was a disaster, would not function and was disintegrating in my hands so SigArms sent me a replacement and that one was nearly as bad, so I eventually returned Mosquito #2, as well.

On the third attempt at customer satisfaction Sig sent me the gun you see in this video and they apparently had the bugs worked out by that time.

My Mosquito has always been noticeably less accurate and less reliable than my Ruger Mk2 but for some reason I like the way it handles so it's by far my most used firearm that I own. The thing has over 10K rounds through it, mostly Federal bulk ammo, and it just keeps on chugging along.

Note: I did a bit of internal polishing and also re-installed the barrel screws with Loctite so that it wouldn't loosen up like my other Mosquitos did. The front sight is bonded in place and filed to proper height since none of the three front blades that came with the gun were even close to point of impact. As I recall they were - "way low", "way high", and "into the stratosphere"! Filing down the "way high" sight worked.

This handgun will be replaced as my "number one" practice gun as soon as my long awaited Glock upper by Tactical Solutions arrives, but until then it will remain my primary "must bring" gun because I simply like the mag release and how it feels under recoil.

  • winchester and federal will work! just put oil! i made all my winchester ammo work! 555 rounds all gone. just add oil on the side of the mag where u see the ammo n rub it.

  • @superV10031986 I'v heard about the old, "oil your ammo" trick for getting these full length slide .22s to run, but oil and ammo are something that should never come in contact with one-another in my book. Blow-back operated firearms rely on the friction of the expanded brass on the chamber wall to hold the action closed during the high pressure portion of the firing cycle. This seals the high pressure gas and keeps the action closed until the pressure drops to a safe level.

  • really like your vid's...look forward to the new ones...thanks...

  • @rudy52350 Okay, glad to hear that, I'm making firewood and getting ready for hunting season but I'll try to get something together soon. Thanks.

  • Good info. That thing seems to like the Rem 550 better than Winchester. I have my moms Sig and I let my wife shoot it today and we used CCI Mini Mags. It ran 100%. Just for kicks, I put a mag of the Win. LOL failed every round.

  • @camarogod93 Same here, mine never liked Winchester either. It works with Rem GB's... If the machine didn't skip the primer compound. Often times when I get a .22 that won't fire I'll pull the bullet and it will either have all the primer compound off to one side or none in the shell at all.

  • if you lower you grip and not touch the de-cocker that may help

  • @theKGB65 Oh I didnt know that.....good thing to know, thanks for the heads up.

  • I love that youre wearing a Glock hat while doing a Sig review haha.

  • thanks for the review. Now i know what gun NOT to buy.

  • This gun is made by GSG (german sporting group) and not Sig. Maybe the reason for the quality issues. Sigs are great, GSGs? not sure.

  • I bought mine about a week ago. Its total junk. I took it back and they are sending me a new one. I just hope its not a single shot as well.

  • CCI, and any remington (thunder and golden bullets) will work in the Sig mosquito. Winchester...NO. Federal...NO
